Privacy Policy
The short version. We never sell your data. Uncan has no ads, no tracking, no analytics SDKs and no data brokers. We keep only what the app needs to count your days and your money. Dex chats are not stored on our servers. You can delete your account and data in the app at any time.
This policy explains how the Uncan app for iPhone ("Uncan", "we", "us") handles your information. Uncan is operated by Appenstance, LLC (details at the bottom of this page).
What we collect
Account
- Your sign-in identity: the email address you sign up with, or the email Sign in with Apple gives us (this can be a private relay address that hides your real one).
- If you sign up with email, you choose a password. Clerk, our sign-in provider, handles it. We never see or store your password.
- An internal user ID that links your data to your account.
Habit data you enter
- How many pouches you used per day, what a tin costs you, how many pouches are in a tin, and your currency.
- The reason for quitting that you write down (up to 500 characters).
- Your start date and plan: quit outright, or taper over a number of days.
- Your daily check-ins: the date and how many pouches you used that day.
Uncan uses these to work out your days clean, streaks, pouches skipped, money saved and taper targets.
Settings and service records
- Whether and when you agreed to send messages to Dex.
- Whether your subscription is active, with a short-lived cached copy of that status.
- Usage counters that limit how many Dex messages can be sent per hour and per day.
What we don't collect
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, health records, advertising identifiers or payment card details. Uncan contains no advertising or analytics SDKs, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Dex, the AI coach
Dex only works after you agree to it in the app. When you message Dex, our server sends your message and the recent conversation to Cloudflare Workers AI, a third-party AI service (currently running a Meta Llama 3.1 model), through Cloudflare AI Gateway. To give Dex context, it also sends a short summary of your progress: your plan, your former daily pouch count, your streak, pouches skipped, money saved, today's taper target and the reason you wrote down.
- We don't store your Dex conversations. Our server doesn't log message content, and logging is turned off at our AI gateway for these requests. The conversation stays on your phone only while the chat is open.
- Don't share sensitive personal information with Dex that you don't want processed by the AI service.
- You can withdraw consent at any time in the app's Settings. Dex stops working until you agree again.
How we use your information
- To run your account and show your progress.
- To generate Dex replies when you ask for them.
- To check that your subscription is active.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse, for example with rate limits.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We don't sell or rent your personal information, use it for advertising, or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Who processes data for us
- Clerk: sign-in and account identity, including Sign in with Apple.
- Cloudflare: hosting (Workers), our database (D1) and AI processing (Workers AI and AI Gateway). Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data, such as IP addresses and request times, to deliver and protect the service.
- RevenueCat: manages subscriptions and tells us whether yours is active.
- Apple: handles payment through in-app purchase. We never see your card details.
Each provider gets only what it needs to do its job. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while you have an account. In the app, Settings > Delete account permanently deletes your habit data, check-ins, settings, service records and your sign-in identity at Clerk.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in iOS Settings first (see Support). Deleting your account also tells RevenueCat, our subscription provider, to delete its customer record for you. Apple keeps its own purchase records under its policies.
If you can't access the app, email us and we'll help you delete your account.
Your choices and rights
You can see and change your habit data in the app, withdraw Dex consent in Settings, and delete everything at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict some processing. To make a request, email info@appenstance.dev. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Every request to our server is checked against your signed-in account, so you can only reach your own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Where data is processed
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate.
Age
Uncan is rated 17+ and is meant for adults who can legally buy nicotine products where they live. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Not medical
Uncan is a habit and money tracker. It isn't a medical service or a smoking-cessation treatment, and it doesn't give health advice.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the effective date above, and if a change is material we'll tell you in the app.
